Matching orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel and other wall and ceiling textures so repairs blend in.
A smooth patch on a textured wall is as visible as a bright spot on a dark shirt. Texture matching is the finishing touch that makes drywall repairs and additions disappear. Orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, slap brush and light sand textures each have their own pattern, depth and spacing, and they are applied with different tools and techniques. Matching takes practice and a good eye, plus a willingness to test on scrap before touching the wall. In Nashville homes built over several decades, textures vary widely from room to room.
We study your existing texture in daylight and a raking light, choose the tool and mix, and test on a sample board. We then apply texture to the repair, feathering into the surrounding wall so there is no hard edge. Once dry, we prime and paint the area, usually repainting the whole wall for an even look. We can also create new textures for additions, or smooth walls entirely with a skim coat if you would rather remove texture altogether.
We test texture on a board first so the pattern, depth and spacing match before touching your wall.
Texture is feathered outward into the existing wall so there is no visible boundary.
Orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, slap brush and light sand are all in our regular work.
If you prefer smooth walls, skim coating removes old texture for a modern look.
