Drywall Sheets and Compound Calculator

Enter wall and ceiling sizes to see how many sheets, how much compound, tape and screws a drywall job needs.

These tools give planning-level estimates from typical values and the details you enter. They are not quotes or engineering or safety advice, and results depend on your actual surfaces, their age and condition, products and local rules. Only a visit can confirm what a project needs, and we give you a written estimate before any work begins.

How it works

Four quick steps.

  1. 01

    Pick a starting point

Room, ceiling, basement, garage or a small patch.

  2. 02

    Enter your sizes

Length, width and wall height in feet, plus doors and windows.

  3. 03

    Choose the sheet size

Four by eight or four by twelve feet.

  4. 04

    Read the quantities

See sheets, screws, compound, tape and corner bead.

Tips

  • Ceilings usually take thicker board than walls, so check with your builder.
  • Wet areas and garages may need special board. See our drywall types guide.
  • Finishing takes more time than hanging, so plan the schedule for both.
